SOUTH FLORIDA FM ASSOCIATION JANUARY 8, 2007 MINUTES OF MEETING PRESIDENT: RONNIE HAIK KG4DBI (NOT PRESENT) DIRECTORS: MAIL YOUR DUES TO: Meeting was called to order at 19:45 with 19 present. Tonight we are again having a joint meeting with the SFMMA and the Dade Radio Club. The SFFMA met first tonight. Ronnie was not present tonight. Brian conducted the meeting and welcomed everyone to the joint SFFMA and DRC meeting. The meeting was broadcast live on the air tonight from the EOC. Testing is being conducted tonight in another room. The microphone was then passed around the room and everyone stated their name and call sign. Brian welcomed everyone again. We do not have a guest speaker tonight. The minutes for the December meeting were posted on the web. A motion was made by Philipe to accept the December minutes, seconded by Art. Repeater update: Robert was not present to report on the 220.000. Ray was not present to report on the 146.760. Carl was not present to report on the 444.200. John advised that the 147.000 is working. Ernesto and Frank were not present tonight. The MS 150 Break Away Bike-A-Thon
dates are April 21 and 22, 2007. Brian spoke about the Holiday Dinner that took place on Saturday, December 16 at 6:30 PM here at the EOC cafeteria. It was very successful and enjoyed by everyone that attended. He thanked everyone that was involved for a great job. The field trip to the Florida Rock Industries will be set up for sometime in Jan or February 2007. It will be announced once the tour it set up. John will try to have a date by our next meeting. Philipe spoke about the JR Orange Bowl that took place on Sat. Dec 30. We worked the corridor of the parade. There were no incidents. No one was sick. No one was injured. The JR Orange Bowl committee used FRS radios. Our part was handled very will. Brian spoke about the Miami Marathon. It will take place on January 28, 2007. It is 26 miles and then there is also a ½ marathon of 13 miles. It starts downtown Miami and goes to Miami Beach. Brian ran last year and he is going to run again this year. If you are interested, please contact Ben at 305-892-1500. George advised that Super Bowl meeting is the same day, January 28, 2007 at 12:00 Noon. Brian spoke about the tour of the operation center of the Coast Guard Station on Miami Beach. It was decided that it will take place on Sunday, February 18 at 4PM. He can take 15 or 20 at a time. We can eat at the galley afterwards. See Joanne to make a list if you are interested. You need to sign-up so that passes can be obtained for your vehicles. Brian announced that we had elections at the last meeting. The officers elected were as follows: President - Ronnie Congratulations to all! Brian spoke about having an annual awards presentation at the end of the year for 2 individuals in amateur radio that have made the biggest impact to the community. One is for an adult and 1 is for a junior member. He is taking nominations tonight and the awards will be given at a future meeting. Brian asked if there was any further old business. There was none. New Business: Sam spoke about the CHAMP program and awards. He needs nominations for that award and will advise when the cut-off date is. Steve announced that January 19, 2007 is the Ft. Myers Hamfest. It was announced that the Orlando Hamfest is February 11 and the Super Bowl Game is February 4, 2007. Brian opened the floor to any other new business. There was none. With no other business, Brian thanked everyone for coming and advised that snacks were in the cafeteria. The SFFMA meeting was adjourned at 20:00.
