Meeting was called to order at 19:45 with 27 present.

Ronnie welcomed all to the SFFMA meeting. The meeting was not broadcast live on the air tonight from the fire boardroom at the EOC due to technical difficulties.

The microphone was passed around the room and everyone stated their name and call sign.

The minutes were not posted on the website, so they will be approved at the next meeting.

Repeater update:

Robert said the 224.200 was up and running.
John was not present so Jason gave the 147.00 report - it is working.
Carl spoke about the 444.200 - its up and running. There is an interference problem and he will be working on it.

Old business:

Ronnie advised that if anyone is interested in going to the Melbourne Hamfest on Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14 to see him.

CERT - this was handled at the ARPSC meeting. CERT is dead until Miami-Dade County advises that it is back on line.

Jason spoke about the ARPSC breakfast at Café Alberto on Sunset and Galloway. The next meeting will be at the Chuckwagon at S.W. 104 and 137 Avenue behind the Burger King.

Jason reminded everyone that we will be having another SET after hurricane season.

He also advised that we need an event coordinator for the Miami Marathon.

Ronnie announced that if anyone is interested in testing on Saturday, Sept. 13, to advise Joe or it will be cancelled.

Ernesto reported that the ARPSC donated to the Bike-A-Thon $950,000.00 and that we are now the #1 sponsor - ahead of Publix and HP. Adam asked everyone to give a big thank you to Ernesto for all his work and dedication.

New Business:

Ronnie explained about the Annual Boy Scout Jamboree for October 17-19 at Camp Seminole off of Griffin and the Turnpike since Sam was not here yet. Anyone interested could contact Ronnie. Robert explained that they may need equipment and volunteers. He will let us know at the next meeting.

Contact David if you are interested in the Kayak races on Saturday, October 25. He need volunteers. He has positions available on the land and water. His number is 305-215-6125 or on the web at Dfernandez@knightridder.com. The hours are 7:00 A.M. to about 1:00 PM. The food is great and plentiful and brought in by a BBQ company. You can also contact Ronnie.

Robert spoke about "Nuts and Bolts" magazine and that other magazines have gone out-of-business that are also dedicated to electronics.

Ronnie spoke about the upcoming Americas Business Forum taking place in Downtown Miami on November 17, 18 and 19.

We then took a break for our guest speaker, Freddy Zelaya from the American Red Cross. He spoke about hurricane preparedness. His presentation was very informative.

Sam then spoke to the group about the Boy Scouts Jamboree at Camp Seminole and the CHAMP program (Citizens' Ham Mobile Marine Patrol Award) will be presenting at an award ceremony on October 10 at the Miccosukee Resort. Florida's Attorney General Charlie Crist will be the guest speaker and tickets are $30.00.

Adam spoke about a SMA connection that are distributed from New Jersey. Anyone interested, see Adam.

Ronnie reminded everyone that there are snacks in the cafeteria.

The meeting was adjourned at 20:49.
