Meeting was called to order at 19:47 with 33 present. Tonight we are again having a joint meeting with the SFMMA and the Dade Radio Club.

The Dade Radio Club will meet first tonight.

Jeff welcomed everyone to the joint SFFMA and DRC meeting. The meeting was broadcast live on the air tonight from the EOC. Testing is being conducted tonight in another room.

The microphone was then passed around the room and everyone stated their name and call sign.

Dade Radio Club conducted their meeting

Ronnie welcomed everyone again. He was late to the meeting as he was picking up an award for Florida Rock Industries as they donated more than $2000 for our new cabinet for the 147.000. John will drop off the award to them. We do not have a guest speaker tonight.

The minutes for September meeting were posted on the web. A motion was made by Caesar to accept the September minutes, seconded by Robert.

Repeater update:

John spoke about the 147.000. It works and then it doesn't work. We are going to keep it this way until after hurricane season when we install the new cabinet. New antennas were measured. John V. advised that it is more commercial than ham at this point. It was discussed that the antenna was put up after Andrew in 1994. Jeff advised that he is working on getting a grant for the antenna and installation.

Carl spoke about the 444.200. It is one (1) hour behind, but in a few weeks it will be right on time. It is working fine.

Robert reported on the 220.000. It is not working. He needs access to put it back.

Ray spoke about the 146.760. The repeater is working. He emailed a link to Robert of a person with an oscillator kit. Robert did not receive it and Ray will email it again. We need a new oscillator to get the repeater back up to speed. They don't make it any more. It was also requested that the link be posted on the website.

Old Business:

Ronnie reminded everyone that dues were officially due Jan 1, 2006. We have 27 total members at this time, 25 paid and 2 life members. You can give your dues to Ronnie or Caesar tonight. Dues are $30.00 per year and $5.00 for each family member. If you are a new ham, you can become a non-voting member for 1 year free, and are considered honorary members for the rest of the year. A membership list is posted on the website. It was discussed to give Mike several copies of our membership applications to had out as the new hams pass their tests to increase our membership. Discussion was made with regard to those joining now so close to the end of the year. A motion was made by Sam that as a promotion, anyone that joins the last quarter (Sept - Dec) will be good for next year too, seconded by Philipe. [The members affected are Ben Nemser, Brian Bailey and Julio Ripoll and his family].

Ernesto spoke about the MS 150 Break Away Bike-A-Thon. The date is April 21 and 22, 2007. They will cap it at 2,500 riders this year, with some exceptions. They have collected $1.65 Million so far from last year. They have some deadbeats that they are still trying to collect from. He needs more volunteers this year. It will be the same route as last year. They are working on a virtual tour at a gym where someone on a stationary bike can ride for the Bike-A-Thon. They raised the age to 18 years for any new riders. If someone rode last year under 18, they will be allowed to ride this year. Last year the riders got to take a lap at the motor speedway (1 mile). Don't know if will happen this year. MS only has a staff of 3 people for the South Florida Chapter, Kathy, Nancy and Ryan. Frank will get with us closed to Jan/Feb about signing up as volunteers. Ernesto, Andy and Frank all advised that everyone really appreciates our help.

Philipe spoke about the JR Orange Bowl for Sat. Dec 30. We are not working the staging this year. The hams will only work the corridor of the parade. Where it starts on TV to where it finishes. We are only there for emergencies. They are to have a battle of the bands this year and more bands. Per Ray, they don't appreciate our help (in the staging area). Philipe advised that you will receive a hot dog, a coke and a tee shirt.

Ronnie asked if there was any more Old Business. There was none and we went on to New Business:

New Business:

Ronnie spoke about how Ben Nemser was here last month and spoke about the Miami Marathon. It will take place on January 28, 2007. It is 26 miles and then there is also a ½ marathon of 13 miles. He needs volunteers. A sign-up sheet was passed around. If you are interested, please contact Ben at 305-892-1500.

Jeff spoke about the Hamfest in Broward. It was great.

Philipe spoke about the Tampa Hamfest. It was very nice, but not out of this world.

Philipe also spoke about the Radio Canada International show that aired yesterday for about 20 minutes. They were interviewing a man from France on how they help out in an emergency.

Adam explained about a recent bill that was passed where Amateur Radio operators are now active participants in homeland security. Hams are now very recognized.

Ray advised that he has pictures of the 00 antenna from July last year if any one is interested in seeing them. He also gave us a demonstration of HDTV.

Ronnie opened the floor to any other new business. There was none.

With no other business, Ronnie thanked everyone for coming and advised that snacks were in the cafeteria.

The meeting was adjourned at 20:55.
