Pictures from the 2007 Orlando Hamfest Okay, actually, one picture from the hamfest itself. A new type of recovery system for hydrocarbons at a Turnpike gas station. I had a chat with the engineer working on the project. This tank farm hold about 12,000 gallons of gasoline for the station at the Turnpike. I guess they wanted to be prepared for a fuel shortage. Over the years, gasoline had leaked into the ground. This system cleans it up. Air from the trailers is pumped into many wells. It bubbles up, hopefully with gasoline vapors attached. Other wells vacuum the contaminated air up for filtering. The idea is that the hydrocarbons are captured and filtered instead of polluting the air and water table. Pictures from Fiddler's pub trip before we moved elsewhere for dinner: A cool paintjob on a classic rig in the outdoor swap area. Yes, this was the only time I remembered to take out the camera. An abandoned store near Port Myacak at Lake Okeechobee. This store was abandoned apparently when a new bridge took all the traffic away. It appears they're working on preserving it. It's a good example of how modernization can ruin some things.
