Tonight we are again
having a joint meeting with the SFMMA and the Dade Radio Club. Ronnie welcomed everyone to the joint SFFMA and DRC meeting. The SFFMA will
have its meeting first and then the DRC will have its meeting. The meeting was
not broadcast live on the air tonight from the EOC. Testing is being conducted
tonight in another room. The microphone was then passed around the room and everyone stated their name
and call sign. Ronnie welcomed everyone again. We do not have a guest speaker tonight. The minutes for August meeting were posted on the web. A motion was made by
Robert to accept the August minutes, seconded by Philipe. Repeater update: Robert reported on the 220.000. It is not working. He needs access to put it
back. Jeff spoke about the 146.760 (Ray came in later). The repeater is working
fine. Merritt spoke about the 147.00 (John was not present tonight). It is back and working. No report on the 444.200 (Carl was not present tonight). Ernesto spoke about the MS 150 Break Away Bike-A-Thon. The date is April 21
and 22, 2007. They will have 2,500 riders this year. He spoke about how teams
can set-up a website so they can track the money that comes in for their team.
They have collected $1.6 Million so far from last year. They have some deadbeats
that they are still trying to collect from. He needs more volunteers this year.
It will be the same route as last year. Ernesto also advised that the ARPSC meetings are the 1st Saturday of every
month, unless it falls on a holiday or there is an event going on. Then it goes
too the 2nd Saturday of the month. The meeting is at Piccadilly’s on Flagler and
82nd Avenue at 9 AM. Ronnie asked if there was any more Old Business. There was none and we went
on to New Business: New Business: Ben Nemser spoke about the Miami Marathon. It will take place on January 28,
2007. It is 26 miles and then there is also a ½ marathon of 13 miles. He needs
volunteers. A sign-up sheet was passed around. If you are interested, please
contact Ben at 305-892-1500. Sam Harte presented a plaque to the SFFMA from the Boy Scouts of America for
the Merit Badge College. It will be placed on the wall with our other awards. He
also gave out certificates of appreciation to Robert, Jeff, Frank and Ronnie. Ronnie announced that the Melborne Hamfest is Oct 14 and 15th. Jeff passed out a flyer from Jay Gerber of the NFL for those interested in
working during the Super Bowl in February 2007. The meeting is this Saturday at
the Biscayne Marriott on Bayshore Drive at 12 Noon. Those that were interested
signed-up to meet with him on Saturday. He paying for parking and there is a
free lunch. No commitment is necessary. They are paying $150.00 per session and
a session can last from 2 hrs to 6 hrs over the four days of events. Robert then advised that there is another event after the NFL meeting on the
same day from 5PM-9PM. Lymphoma Society needs volunteers for their “Light Up The
Night” 2-mile walk in downtown Miami. A list was passed around for those that
were interested to sign-up. If you are interested and are not at the meeting,
please contact Robert. Ronnie then held a moment of silence in remembrance of the events of
September 11th – 5 years ago. Ronnie opened the floor to any other new business. There was none. He announced that tonight was our annual Pizza Night and we will be having
pizza in the cafeteria after the Dade Radio Club meeting. With no other business, Ronnie thanked everyone for coming and turned the
