Meeting was called to order at 19:55 with 27 present. Tonight we are again having a joint meeting with the SFMMA and the Dade Radio Club.

The SFFMA met first tonight.

Ronnie welcomed everyone to the joint SFFMA and DRC meeting. The meeting was broadcast live on the air tonight from the EOC. Testing is being conducted tonight in another room.

The microphone was then passed around the room and everyone stated their name and call sign. Ray requested that if anyone is going to say something to use the microphone for those that are listening so that they can hear what is being said.

Ronnie welcomed everyone again. We do not have a guest speaker tonight.

The minutes for the August meeting were posted on the web. A motion was made by Jeff to accept the August minutes, seconded by Philipe.

Repeater update:

Ray reported on the 146.760. It continues to work well. We are on it right now. Please use it. Frank stated that he was having trouble with auto patch. Ray advised that if anyone is having a problem, please call him when it is happening so he can correct it.

Merritt reported on the 147.000. Working fine. The large white piece of white junk that is at our meeting is the old repeater cabinet. This past Saturday, they took it down and installed the new one. Jeff showed a slide show of pictures as they were explained by Merritt. The new cabinet is made from aluminum and will oxidize but will not rust.

Carl reported on the 444.200. It’s at Bird Road and 72nd Avenue. Operating well. One problem is that the time is not exact. When we go back to the time change in November, it will be back to the correct time. Need people to use it.

Robert reported on the 220.000. He needs access to UM. Ray said that he is on the list. Robert advised that they do not know that he is on the list or who he is. It will be taken care of.

Old Business:

Ronnie announced that the SFFMA will be dissolved at the end of the month and we will submit our remaining funds to the Dade Radio Club. Again, it is too expensive to keep two clubs going. There is one meeting each month and it is basically the same people. We don’t need two presidents; 2 vice presidents; 2 secretaries; 2 treasurers, 2 insurance policies, etc. The SFFMA funds will be used for the repeater fund to take care of antennas and whatever else the repeaters may need in the future. We have a quorum tonight and he will go to the bank to close the SFFMA account and write a check to Dade Radio Club for the balance. Dade Radio Club will take possession of all of the SFFMA repeaters and insure the. Jeff agreed. October will be our last meeting and Dade Radio Club will take over in November 2007. Ronnie is going to each paid member to have them sign off. The bottom of the list reads: “The above signed members agree to dissolve the SFFMA as described in the minutes of June/July/August/September 2007 into the Dade Radio Club as of September 30, 2007 and all funds will be submitted to the Dade Radio Club for use in the Repeater Fund.”
Again, it was agreed that all paid members are good to the end of the year with the Dade Radio Club. We have 4 Life Members and Dade Radio Club has agreed to accept them. Honorary’s will be good until the end of the year also. We are going to look through the SFFMA paperwork to make sue that there are no more Life Members. Jeff agreed that if there was paperwork stating that someone is a Life Member, that they will be accepted. It needs to be documented in the minutes and in the old rosters.

Ray advised that SFFMA was put together in the 60’s and there is a list of people who set it up. Philipe advised that the SFFMA came out of the Dade Radio Club and is now going back into the Dade Radio Club. It is the evolution of the times and we need to evolve in order to exist. It will be the same members and it is a positive thing.

Carl announced that Jeff is not the new RACES officer since he is retiring and the new EC is Philipe Calerone. Jeff and Philipe work well together and Carl is just a plain old HAM now enjoying retirement.

It was announced that there are big changes with ARRL with Homeland Security.

Carl suggested that someone make a graft of all the clubs in town that broke off and came back. There were many radio clubs at one time. He will look into his stuff. Now all the small towns far away have gotten our good people because they moved away after we trained them. Hollis asked how far back the records and minutes go for the Dade Radio Club. It was announced that they go back to 1940 something. Ray announced that Evelyn offered her old records and we need someone to scan all the documents so that the can be put on DVD’s and put on the website. Jeff suggested that it could be done on a weekend.

Ronnie asked if there was any further old business. There was none.

New Business

Ronnie advised that the Melbourne Hamfest will take place Sat Oct 13 and Sun Oct 14 in Melborne with the ARRL State Convention. If anyone is interested in tickets, booths, swap tables, etc. go to Pcars.org.

Ray announced that tomorrow is September 11th and that two different events that are open to the public are to take place. One is at 9:30 AM with the Miami-Dade Fire Department and Miami-Dade Police Department to honor the fire fighters and police officers that lost their lives at Tropical Park by the tennis courts. The other one is a memorial service here at the EOC at 3:00 PM

With no other business, Ronnie thanked everyone for coming and advised that snacks were in the cafeteria.

The SFFMA meeting was adjourned at 20:40. Dade Radio Club then conducted their meeting
